artist | Seokhee Kim

Seokhee Kim was born in Pyeongchang, South Korea in 1970 and grew up in Seoul. She holds a PhD in language and culture from Osaka University in Japan and is currently a research professor at Kyung Hee University in Seoul, South Korea. She also works as a translator.

In addition to her academic career, she has been artistically active since the 1980s, when she was still a teenager. Her pictures are about the coexistence of East and West, the characteristics of watercolor and oil paintings, as well as loneliness and happiness. She captures small but special moments of everyday life to create images that tell stories.
