What do we see in this work of art?
This work of art “Creek through the Conway Meadows” by the American artist Benjamin Champney, printed on a poster with a passepartout, was created in the late 1800s in the United States of America. It shows a decidedly idyllic natural landscape that has not yet been influenced by the roads and industries of modern times. We see the main character of the work, who also gave it its name, in the lower part of the picture. A stream winds quietly through the landscape and on the banks there are ancient trees that have certainly seen much of the eventful history of the USA. They are reflected in the water, which is almost as smooth as glass. Two people taking a break by the river can be seen in the middle part of the work of art. Maybe they are shepherds. On the right side of the picture, a large chain of hills with forests completes the scene. The sunset can already be seen and literally draws the viewer into the world of the Conway meadows.
