What do we see in this work of art?
This printed artwork “Downtown in the Rain” depicts an elderly man walking through the streets of a cosmopolitan city dressed in a long dark coat. It seems to be either early evening or morning, because through the ravines of the high-rise buildings you can dimly see the sky, which glows in a dark blue. In addition to the man, the weather itself is clearly a significant player. It's raining cats and dogs and the streets are wet. Based on the strongly glowing light sources in the mural, we see that there must also be a strong wind. Doesn't the man get wet when the umbrella he's holding straight up can barely catch the rain falling from the side? The artwork features strong colors and contrasts. While the surroundings are bathed in a dark blue, the light sources are bright red or golden yellow.
