This painting, “Balloons in the Sky,” printed on a mug, depicts an almost fairytale-like scene. We see a woman in a white dress flying through the blue sky on a bicycle. She is supported by dozens of colorful balloons that she holds in the air above her. Individual clouds can be observed in the background, illuminated by the sun. We don't know whether the sun is setting or rising, but despite the simple motif, "Balloons in the Sky" manages to create the pleasant feeling of dreams and fairy tales in us. We can easily imagine flying over green meadows or rolling waves illuminated by a warming sun, with a pleasant tailwind pushing us forward. It is a truly dreamlike scenery.
